چکیده

We rigorously establish that, in the long-wave regime characterized by the assumptions of long wavelength and small amplitude, bidirectional solutions of the improved Boussinesq equation tend to associated solutions of two uncoupled Camassa-Holm equations. We give a precise estimate for approximation errors in terms of two small positive parameters measuring the effects of nonlinearity and dispersion. Our results demonstrate that, in the present regime, any solution of the improved Boussinesq equation is split into two waves propagating in opposite directions independently, each of which is governed by the Camassa-Holm equation. We observe that the approximation error for the decoupled problem considered in the present study is greater than the approximation error for the unidirectional problem characterized by a single Camassa-Holm equation. We also consider lower order approximations and we state similar error estimates for both the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony approximation and the Kortewegde Vries approximation.

On Time Fractional Modifed Camassa-Holm and Degasperis-Procesi Equations by Using the Haar Wavelet Iteration Method

The Haar wavelet collocation with iteration technique is applied for solving a class of time-fractional physical equations. The approximate solutions obtained by two dimensional Haar wavelet with iteration technique are compared with those obtained by analytical methods such as Adomian decomposition method (ADM) and variational iteration method (VIM). The results show that the present scheme is...

A numerical study of variable depth KdV equations and generalizations of Camassa-Holm-like equations

In this paper we study numerically the KdV-top equation and compare it with the Boussinesq equations over uneven bottom. We use here a finite-difference scheme that conserves a discrete energy for the fully discrete scheme. We also compare this approach with the discontinuous Galerkin method. For the equations obtained in the case of stronger nonlinearities and related to the Camassa-Holm equat...

Conformal Properties and Bäcklund Transform for the Associated Camassa-Holm Equation

Integrable equations exhibit interesting conformal properties and can be written in terms of the so-called conformal invariants. The most basic and important example is the KdV equation and the corresponding Schwarz-KdV equation. Other examples, including the Camassa-Holm equation and the associated Camassa-Holm equation are investigated in this paper. It is shown that the Bäcklund transform is...

In this paper we discuss recent progress in using the Camassa-Holm equations to model turbulent flows. The Camassa-Holm equations, given their special geometric and physical properties, appear particularly well suited for studying turbulent flows. We identify the steady solution of the Camassa-Holm equation with the mean flow of the Reynolds equation and compare the results with empirical data ...

Generic Regularity of Conservative Solutions to Camassa-Holm Type Equations

This paper mainly proves the generic properties of the Camassa-Holm equation and the two-component Camassa-Holm equation by Thom’s transversality Lemma. We reveal their differences in generic regularity and singular behavior.
